VideoThe Interweb is the new TV, so they say. We team up with art-vid maestros M SS NG P ECES to bring you artist profiles, footage of our editor-filtered events, and various other cultural moving and shaking. Now you've got more than skateboarding dogs and SNL reruns to help you procrastinate.
Live Earth AfterpartyOn 7.7.07, Live Earth concerts spanned all seven continents in an effort to curb global warming; Flavorpill teamed up with Absolut to invite eco-conscious and hardy partiers to the official NYC afterparty. Cocktails were poured, hot topics (and tropics) discussed, and for one night, it was easy — and fun — being green.
WMC 2007While we were jumping velvet ropes, ducking rainstorms, and digging serious grooves at WMC '07, the m ss ng p eces crew was by our side, cameras in hand. This is how it looked from the street, the stage, and, of course, the dance floor.
KinkyMonterrey-based Kinky inaugurates Flavorpill's newest project, Nuevo-Edge. The five piece layers elements of Mexican folk music — accordions, the soft chorus of horns — that play out as logical, organic parts of the party.
Spank RockMaybe it's not all Cristal and half-naked groupies, but you know you still want to watch. Flavorpill follows Spank Rock from recent concert appearances to in-studio brainstorming sessions and super-fierce street poses as the B'more boys mix it up and shake it loose for the cameras.
Flavorpill HalloweenRelive the Den of Ill Repute, or peep what you missed with this documentary footage from our sixth anniversary Halloween party. Spank Rock and CSS got panties in bunches, MC Killa Kela and a slew of DJs maintained the beat, and an open bar from Bud Select and SV Vodka kept judgment properly impaired.
Creative Commons ConcertDiplo and Girl Talk abused decks and laptops respectively in this night of sample-jacking for content-recycling advocates Creative Commons. The Flavorpill-curated lineup found Mike Patton's Peeping Tom project (with cohorts DJ Rob Swift and beatboxer Rahzel) rocking top slot.
'The Long Tail' Book ReleaseTo celebrate the unveiling of Chris Anderson's book The Long Tail , Flavorpill spread the wealth of talent around with DJ sets courtesy of Qool Marv, $mall ¢hange, and LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy, as well as live performances from grimy B’more bangers Spank Rock and the ever-smokin' Brazilian Girls.
M3 Music ConferenceFor the third year in a row, Flavorpill packed bags and beats and headed to Miami for M3. The diverse music and panel lineup ran from electro-soulster Jamie Lidell, party-poppers Hot Chip, and rapping midget Lady Sovereign to techno legends Coldcut and WIRED editor-in-chief Chris Anderson. |
