Issue #99: Cover Design Credit

KONSTANTINOS GARLAGETSOS

This week's Flavourpill covers for all five cities come from (A Book) Designed to Help, assembled by UK designers iLovedust and published by Die Gestalten Verlag. A lavish hardcover filled with new work by marquee designers worldwide, the book lives up to its name, with all proceeds going to nonprofit CARE for their tsunami-relief efforts. The opulent collection puts the extravagant impulses of the design community to good use, transforming luxurious layouts into much-needed munificence. "Can a typeface save the world?" asks one of the pages, rather plaintively. The answer might seem all too obvious, but consider this: these do-gooders have already collected almost 100,000 euros for charity.

The work featured in flavourpill LDN comes from designer Konstantinos Gargaletsos. Costa was born in Athens and raised on a diet of Japanese animation, MTV and the magazines I.D. and The Face. In 1994, he moved to his current home of London, where he works for Point Blank. Additionally, Costa is art director for the Worn By Original Icon clothing label. Youth-culture design and illustration is his favourite area of expertise.
