Frank McCauley's paintings vividly portray his reactions to situations from his past and present. His work deals with the internal psychological aspects of self and convey partial messages to the viewer of his inner workings. He is fascinated by relationships between private and public, reality and fiction, object and representation, the individual and the masses, and systems and architecture. Moving from the unconscious to concrete perception, McCauley's work confronts the viewer with an image of oneself, not through reflection, but by gaining awareness of oneself through the world of someone else.
